Picture Day (2024)
13.5" x 27"
(metal stool, bond paper, matte gel medium)
This stool features an image transfer of my portrait taken on picture day in kindergarten ('93). I deliberately chose an image of myself to transfer because I wanted my brown skin to seamlessly merge with the stool's material. When I was a child, I harbored a desire to become invisible, not out of shyness or embarrassment, but out of mischievous curiosity to observe unnoticed. Using this specific portrait and integrating it with an adamant object, I achieve my childhood wish by becoming an inconspicuous object.
